En 1961 el maestro Calixto Ochoa y el, en ese momento joven y poco conocido, Alfredo Gutiérrez, llegaron a la oficina de Antonio Fuentes, propietario de la disquera Fuentes en Medellín, para presentarle una propuesta musical que combinaba Cumbia, Vallenato y otros ritmos propios de la costa, el señor Fuentes quedó encantado con lo que escuchó, el resultado fue la creación de los Corraleros del Majagual, una de las agrupaciones tropicales más importantes de Colombia…y por qué no, prolífica, en términos de cantidad de producciones discográficas.
