Mai-Elka Prado Gil (Panamá, 1986) es la fundadora del Afro-Latino Festival de Nueva York. Es una artista y compositora bilingüe quien vive actualmente en Nueva York. Como artista, su trabajo ha estado enfocado en exponer los sonidos Afrodescendientes de America Latina en la ciudad de Nueva York. Como organizadora cultural su trabajo ha estado enfocado en desarrollar plataformas culturales que reunan audiencias multiculturales.

Será imposible que las artes aporten a un  verdadero cambio político sin una introspección profunda y acción inmediata por el reconocimiento y compensación de las contribuciones de las personas de ascendencia Africana e Indígena como punto de partida. El racismo y la discriminación también habitan en la médula social de Latinoamérica plenamente y esto de debe ser reconocido y erradicado como tal.
